Friends of the Library Book Sale
The next Friends of the Library book sale will be held on February 7th on the north/east lawn. In addition to the usual wide selection of books, a great selection of VHS movies and books-on-tape will also be sold.
Literacy Advocate Award Recipient Honored
David Crawford, Claudia Garcia, Brian Lewis, and Sylvia Nacianceno
Claudia Garcia, Self Sufficiency Counselor for HHSA’s Porterville District Office, recently received the Literacy Advocate award. The honor was designed for HHSA counselors and specialists who have referred and encouraged their clients to participate in a joint program developed by HHSA and the Library Literacy Center. Brian Lewis, Tulare County Librarian, presented the quarterly award on behalf of the Library’s Read to Succeed Literacy program. Also in attendance were David Crawford, TulareWORKS Deputy Director, Jason Britt, TulareWORKS Division Manager, Sylvia Nacianceno, HHSA Porterville Office Unit Manager, Tessa Houston, Employment Services Program Specialist, and Win Doyle, HHSA/Literacy Program Coordinator.

Computer Classes Begin in February, 2009
Free computer classes will be offered at the Visalia Library's computer lab beginning in February. The schedule for the classes is as follows:
February 4 - Intro to PCs
February 11 - Intro to Word
February 12 - Intro to Excel
February 18 - Internet 101
February 25 - Email for Beginners
February 26 - Computers in the Workplace
All classes begin at 1:00PM.

Mystery Readers Book Discussion
The Friends of the Library and The California Center for the Book will be sponsoring the Mystery Readers’ "Mysterious California" book discussion at the Visalia library on January 21, 2008 at 6:30 PM. The book for January is Southland by Nina Revoyr.
