Farmersville Branch Library Grand Opening on Sat 4/22

FARMERSVILLE Branch Library
GrAND Opening Celebration
Saturday, APRIL 22 10 am to 2 pm

Tulare County Library invites everyone to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Farmersville Branch Library on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Farmersville, California. The Grand Opening ceremony begins at 11 am followed by a ribbon cutting. Festivities begin at 10 am with a resource fair coordinated by the Boys and Girls Club of Farmersville. Following the ribbon cutting the library will be open for check out, library cards, crafts, and story time until 2 pm.

The event will feature distinguished speakers including Kuyler Crocker—Tulare County Supervisor District 1, Debbie Lagomarsino—Lea Conmigo and Read for Life, Alice Lopez—Farmersville Unified School District, Mayor Paul Boyer and Greg Gomez—Farmersville City Council, Tara Adams—the Office of Assemblyman Devon Mathis, and others. Darla Wegener, County Librarian will have the honor of hosting this event welcoming everyone to the new Farmersville Branch.

Farmersville, a community of 11,000, is located east of Visalia and south of Highway 198. Thanks to Lea Conmigo, a group of concern citizens, local community groups, the City of Farmersville, the Farmersville Unified School District, and the Tulare County Library, the new branch will be able to provide a portal to more information and resources for residents. The approximately 1540 square foot space located in the Farmersville Community Center will house books, DVDs, magazines, and computers to assist the Farmersville community with their informational, recreational, self-educational, and cultural needs.

The Tulare County Library is proud of Farmersville returning to our library system. Celebrate with library staff, citizens, guests, and other county staff on this opening day at the new branch, located at 623 N. Avery Ave, in Farmersville. Thanks to the City of Farmersville receiving a CDBG grant, the library will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm and staffed by Library Assistant Janet Soriano.

Are you ready to get up close and personal with a Binturong? How would you like to meet a movie star, albeit one with fur, whiskers, and a tail? Some might say those are the most fun and delightful movie stars to spend time with!

The Friends of the Tulare County Library are inviting one and all to a fabulously entertaining AND educational evening with Jeff Lee of Steve Martin’s Working Wildlife. Jeff will share some of his expertise in animal behavior and give you an opportunity to experience wildlife in a way not possible when viewing animals at the zoo.
