Adult Coloring at Dinuba Branch Library!

Dinuba Branch Library invites you to join us for Adult Coloring!

Bring your own coloring supplies or use ours.  The library will provide crayons, 
colored pencils, and a variety of coloring pages for all to enjoy.  If you prefer, you may bring your own supplies and just enjoy an hour of relaxation! All adults are welcome!!
The program is on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 6:30 - 7:30pm in the Dinuba Branch Library Community Room, beginning April 12.

March Crafts Show Signs of Spring at the Tulare County Library Branch Libraries

Children can celebrate different springtime activities this month including St. Patrick’s Day and the Easter Bunny at the library branches. Here are the crafts for each week:

March 15 through 18 – Paper Four Leaf Clover
March 22 through 25 – Paper Bunny Pops
March 29 through April 1 – Stained Glass Butterfly

Craft sessions are available at the Alpaugh, Earlimart, Exeter, Ivanhoe, Lindsay, Orosi, Springville, Strathmore, Three Rivers, Tipton and Woodlake branch libraries. Times vary with each location.

New London Branch Library Groundbreaking Ceremony, March 18

Join Tulare County Library as we celebrate the beginning of construction of the new London Branch Library on Friday, March 18 at 4 p.m. at 5711 Avenue 378, London, California.

The groundbreaking ceremony begins with Tulare County*s District Four Supervisor Steve Worthley, Library for London representative Robert Isquierdo, County Librarian Darla Wegener, and others recounting the road to bringing this new library to London. Then dignitaries will take shovels in hand for this historical groundbreaking.

Tulare County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Todd Companies for the labor and materials necessary to develop the site for a modular building. The approximately 1400 square foot new modular will house books, DVDs, magazines, and computers to assist London community with their informational, recreational, self-educational, and cultural needs.

Three Rivers Branch Presents Natural History of Local Rattlesnakes, March 10

Three Rivers Branch presents "Natural History of Local Rattlesnakes: How They Live, Reproduce and Survive" with Isaac Chellman, Sequoia National Park wildlife biologist, on Wednesday, March 10 at 6:30pm.

The talk will focus on Pacific rattlesnakes, Pacific gopher snakes, Western garter snakes, common King snakes, and more! Everyone is welcome to attend, including children!

Three Rivers Branch Presents "Winnie the Pooh & Pajamas, Too!," March 5

Children, wear your favorite pajamas and bring your favorite blanket or pillow or stuffed friends.

We'll be reading "Winnie the Pooh" stories and poems all evening long!

Come and stay as long as you want!

Very special "Winnie the Pooh" cookies and a smackeral of something else will be provided for refreshments.


"Winnie the Pooh and Pajamas, Too!" is held on Saturday, March 5 at the Three Rivers Branch Library from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Three Rivers Library.

The Exeter Branch Library presents Star Wars Day on Thursday, March 24, from 4pm-6pm. Come to hear Kylo Ren host storytime at 4pm. After storytime, Kylo Ren will be available for any pictures.
 
The day continues with Star Wars cookie decoration, Star Wars crafts and Star Wars games. Participants can decorate their Darth Vader, Yoda, C3-PO, and Chewbacca cookies. The Star Wars crafts include First Order Trooper mask, C3-PO puppet, and Master Yoda Stick puppet. Outdoors, join the Star Wars games such as Escape from the Death Star, Light Saber Training, and others.

Springville Branch Change of Hours

The Springville Branch will have new opening hours on Thursdays beginning Thursday, March 3, 2016.

Springville Branch's new Thursday hours are 9 am – 1 pm, 2 pm – 6 pm.

Friday and Saturday hours will stay the same.

Keep Calm and Knit and Crochet On!

Want to relieve stress, make new friends, and create beautiful, useful items all at the same time?

Come to the Knitting and Crocheting Social sponsored by the Friends of the Library-Exeter, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, from 3 to 4 pm.

Hosted by Friends President Sandy Marlow, needle craft lovers are invited to bring their current projects, and newbies are introduced to new ways to make the needles move! Sandy will bring her projects to demonstrate stitches and techniques. The social is free, light refreshments will be served, and everyone is welcome.

The Exeter Branch of the Tulare County Library is located at 230 East Chestnut Street in Exeter. The Friends of the Library-Exeter is an association for people who love libraries, reading, books, volunteering, and raising money to enhance public library services in Exeter. During Library Lovers Month the Tulare County Library branch crafts will focus on showing our library love by honoring Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17.  Here are the Kindness crafts for each week:

Branch Libraries to Open Late, Friday January 22



All branch libraries that are normally open on Fridays are authorized to close for the morning this Friday, January 22. They will reopen at 1:00 pm.

The Visalia Branch Library will open at its normal time of 12:00 pm on Friday.

Three Rivers Branch Presents "Black Bear Ecology and Management in SEKI Parks," February 11

The Three Rivers Branch will presenting a free community program, "Black Bear Ecology and Management in SEKI Parks," on Thursday, February 11 at 6:30pm. 

Danny Gammons, Park Wildlife Biologist, will present a powerpoint presentation. He will talk about black bears which do two things – make more bears and eat. Three Rivers has had an incredible bear year and Danny will remind us that bear caused property damage is the tax we pay for living in a natural environment.

Exeter Branch Hours in January

Exeter Branch will have slightly different hours on a few days in January:


The Exeter Branch will be open on Tuesday, January 12 and Wednesday, January 27 from 1pm-5pm & 6pm-8pm.

On Friday, January 22, we will be open from 2pm-6pm. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Urban Art Show to Tour Tulare County Libraries

The 5th annual Step Up Urban Art Tour begins with a reception at the Visalia Branch Library on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 6 pm. The four-month tour stops at 10 Tulare County Library locations, as well as the Tulare Public Library, Porterville Public Library, and Tulare County Government Plaza.

The display features spray paint art pieces inspired by the Tulare County Office of Education's CHOICES program, an afterschool activity designed to help children succeed. Artists from Bakersfield, Fresno and Hollister have created three different one-of-a-kind works featured on the tour.

The Urban Art works are on exhibit as follows:



In addition to the kickoff event at the Visalia Library, another reception will be held at the Tulare Public Library in Tulare city on Wednesday, March 16 at 6 PM.

Exeter Branch Library Holds Frequent Reader Club This Month

Cold winter days are the perfect time for kids to stay warm inside, read a good book, and earn a free book at the same time!
Children and teens from kindergarten through 12th grade can join the January Frequent Reader Club at the Exeter Branch Library, from January 5 to January 29.  Each day a student checks out a book, he or she receives a stamp. Kids and teens can also earn bonus stamps when they attend a library program. After collecting stamps on six different days, they’ve earned a free book!

It's "Scary and Sweet" Time at Tulare County Library Branches

Halloween and Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) may not come until the end of October, but kids can start getting ready now at the Tulare County Library branches! The crafts for this month are:

October 5 through 10 – Hanging Bats
October 12 through 17 – Hanging Ghosts
October 19 through 24 – Treat Boxes
October 26 through 31 – Day of the Dead Mask

Lego Club Launched this Month at Four Tulare County Library Branches

It's not too late to join Tulare County Library's newest club -- the Lego Club, that is.

Launched this month at
Alpaugh, StrathmoreThree Rivers, and Woodlake Branch Libraries, the club meets weekly to build with Legos. On the last week of the month, a contest is held and the winner wins a prize!

Meeting times and themes are below:

Alpaugh Branch: Wednesdays, 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Strathmore Branch: Tuesdays, 2:00pm - 5:00pm
Three Rivers Branch: Wednesdays, 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Delayed Opening for All Branches: Friday, August 28


All libraries in the Tulare County Library system that are usually open on Fridays will be opening later than usual on August 28th due to a mandatory staff meeting.

*The Visalia Branch Library will be opening at 1:00pm.
