Visalia and Tulare Literacy Programs Unite

Jeff Scott, Tulare County Librarian, has announced the incorporation of  literacy efforts in the city of Tulare into the county program.

Kim Torrez of Tulare will head the new satellite under the supervision of County Library Literacy Center Manager Sue Gillison.  Tutoring will take place at the Tulare City Library by appointment only.

In making the announcement, Mr. Scott said, “I want to thank the folks of the Manual Torrez Family Resource Center, the First Congregational Church and Tulare City citizens for their support.  While we at the County Library worked on unifying the county’s  literacy activities they gave us unhesitating support.  It is a great satisfaction to know that Tulare City literacy efforts will go forward under the banner of the Read to Succeed program.  It would not have been possible without the aid and cooperation of Tulare City’s residents and resources.”

For more information or to volunteer as a tutor for the new Read To Succeed center, please contact Sue Gillison at (559) 713-2745 or Kim Torrez at (559) 682-2520.
