Learn About the Common Core Standards at the Tulare County Library

What are the ramifications of Common Core and why is it so controversial?

The Common Core State Standards is an educational initiative in the United States that details what K-12 students should know in English language arts and mathematics at the end of each grade. The initiative is sponsored by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). It seeks to establish consistent educational standards across the states as well as ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to enter credit-bearing courses at two- or four-year college programs or to enter the workforce.

Join us in the Tulare County Library's Blue Room, 200 W. Oak Avenue, Visalia, CA on Thursday, September 25 at 6:30 pm as Craig Wheaton, Visalia Unified School District Superintendent talks about Common Core. His talk will be followed by a short Question and Answer session.
