Tween Chocolate Tasting Challenge, Thu 2/15 4 pm, Visalia Library


Tween ages 10-13! Test your taste buds at our first ever Tween Chocolate Tasting Challenge! Sign ups start February 13th at the Children’s Reference Desk.
 
Not into chocolate? Shy of competition? Join the fun as an audience member—cheer for the competitors and try to predict the winner!  This program is free and generously sponsored by the Friends of the Tulare County Library.

Summer Happenings at the Tulare County Library


The Tulare County Library will be busy during Summer 2017!  Below is a summary of events by Branch.  Please contact the branch for any questions about programs or times.

Our Summer Reading Program is Reading by Design!  Children ages 3 and over sign up with a parent or guardian, receive a reading log, and fill it in each day they read. No matter your reading level or interests, reading for fun or learning is all that is required. In addition to the reading program, branches also offer special events sure to please every age group.  Just a reminder, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult and should not be left unattended.  Registration is not required for special events.

The Tulare County Library invites families to gather for a special Star Wars event in the children’s wing of the Visalia Branch Library on Thursday, May 4th at 3:30 pm.
 
Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite Star Wars character. The event includes Star Wars storytime, crafts, the Star Wars trivia wheel, and a Star Wars scavenger hunt.
 
Come color or craft Princess Leia buns, Yoda ears, and Yoda origami. Join a Jedi Boot Camp and take a picture in the photo booth.  All supplies are provided. This program is free and registration is not required. Star Wars day is made possible by the Friends of the Tulare County Library.

Tulare County Library's Got Games for Tweens, Teens, and Adults

Join us for a Board Game Night for ages 10 and up, beginning Thursday, October 15, from 6 to 7:45 pm at the Visalia Branch Library.

No signups, no scorekeeping, no prizes, no referees, and no pressure, only a lot of laughs and friendly fun!  Teens, tweens and even adults can enjoy Board Game Night by simply showing up every third Thursday at 6 pm at the Visalia Branch Library, 200 W. Oak Street in Visalia.

Come and play games including Quelf, We Didn*t Playtest This at All, and Gloom. Other selections will be available in later sessions. Tell us what you would like as well.

Board Game Night is sponsored by the Teen Advisory Group (TAG). TAG is a volunteer group of teens who help design and implement teen services as well as participate in teen activities. Any teen 13 and up can join TAG and influence the programs offered at the library!

Unmask Summer Reading for Tweens

Tulare County Library's Visalia Branch tweens "Unmask" their inner heroes with reading over the summer. Tweens complete reading adventures to earn points for prizes! Every 100 pages you knock out becomes one point closer to freeing yourself from summer boredom. The more you read, the more points you earn.

Tweens' special events and programs happen on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00 pm. Join forces for events that are free and open only to ages 10-12. So no matter your alter ego, come enjoy programs that feature heroes from favorite games and movies.

Origami for Tweens, May 16

Tweens (ages 10-12) can join Flo, Children's Librarian on Friday, May 16th, from 4:00 to 5:30 at the Visalia Library to participate in fun origami projects. Drop into the Homework Center in the Children’s Wing anytime during the session to participate. 

This will be the last origami session before the Tween Summer Reading Program starts.
