Tulare County Library Contributes to the "Valley Firsts!" Exhibit
The Tulare County Library’s Annie Mitchell History Room is proud to have contributed to the new “Valley Firsts!” exhibit opening September 13, 2013 at Fresno State's Henry Madden Library. This exhibition celebrates events and accomplishments in agriculture, technology, sports, and culture which occurred in the San Joaquin Valley prior to happening anywhere else.
Some of the Tulare County “firsts” included in the exhibit are photos and documents related to the George Stockton Berry combine harvester, the Allensworth community, Anna Mills Johnston, the first woman to climb Mt. Whitney, and the first African-American to serve as the superintendent of a national park, Charles Young.
The exhibit is free and open to the public during the Madden Library’s regular hours, through December 15, 2013.
