First Tuesday Book Club Meeting, August 5

For August, we'll be reading Hawaii by James A. Michener. Hawaii is a novel which traces the racial origins of Hawaii. The original Tahitian colonizers welcome the white missionaries who bring in Chinese and Japanese laborers.

We will be meeting in the Visalia Branch Blue Room to discuss this book on August 5 from 6:30pm - 7:45pm.

Tulare County Library Adds Rosetta Stone as Online Resource

Fans of Tulare County Library's Livemocha language learning resource may have noticed that it was recently replaced with the renowned language learning program, Rosetta Stone.

Rosetta Stone acquired Livemocha last year and is now making the
Rosetta Stone online language learning product available to libraries
nationwide. The resource provides level one teaching to language
learners interested in the over twenty languages available in the
Rosetta Stone program.

The resource is available to all residents of the Tulare County Library
service area who have Tulare County Library cards. Learners can practice more than one language at a time, though only one user is permitted per library card. To access Rosetta Stone from outside the library, learners can visit the Tulare County Library homepage at www.tularecountylibrary.org, select "Research", and click "Online Resources" to locate the link for Rosetta Stone. The resource requires internet access and, to complete exercises, learners will need a microphone and speakers or headphones.

Natural Resources Conservation Preservation To Be Given at Tulare County Library

Learn about Visalia's Natural Resources Conservation program and what you can do at the Tulare County Library this Thursday, July 3, at 6:30 pm.

Information will be given on the following topics:

* Hazardous Waste Collections
* Alternative Transportation
* Composting
* SHARPS Collections
* Native and Low-Water Use Gardening
